Mallard, designed at the University of Illinois, is a course management tool with the added ability to create various types of worksheets and activities: multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, cloze, matching, and open-ended responses, among others. UVA has an unlimited site license for use in classes across grounds. It has been an effective tool for courses where students need to master certain skill sets and knowledge to be used in class discussions. It is currently being used successfully in Elementary Spanish and Elementary and Intermediate Japanese.
